Golf enthusiasts never tire of our two spectacular championship courses, Tara and Monticello. Each course offers a breathtaking view with rolling landscapes that will certainly challenge its players. Each course has its own country club and dining facility. Membership in both of these clubs comes with property ownership with NO initiation fees. Greens fees are under $20. Courses, designed by Ault Clark Associates, were landscaped around Lake Thurmond, through mature trees and rolling terrains. They are a beauty to behold and offer an exciting day on the course.

The Savannah Lakes Village Tara Golf Club offers a variety of man-made and natural hazards to challenge the weekend player as well as the low handicapper. The course layout forms a figure-eight around the country club and parallels Lake Thurmond. The 18th and ninth greens meet behind the clubhouse to form a shared green, which also overlooks the lake, all providing a spectacular view from the dining room.

The Tara Golf Club measures 7,002 yards from the back tees and features 81 sand bunkers. The recently renovated and re-contoured TifEagle greens are surrounded by Zoysia grass and Bermuda fairways.

Monticello Golf Course has been ranked 8th by Golf Digest, as one of the best new affordable Golf Courses in the U.S. With 5 tee markers at every hole, the Monticello course offers spectacular vistas and challenges golfers of every level with heavily bunkered rolling terrain, numerous rock formations and water hazards on nine of its 18 holes. The club opened in the spring of 2000 and serves as the second private golf course for Savannah Lakes Village.

The Monticello golf course measures 7,032 yards from the back tees and features 76 sand bunkers. Monticello features Crenshaw/L93 bentgrass on the greens enclosed by Emerald Zoysia collars and bunker surrounds and 419 Bermuda grass on the fairways.

There are also excellent practice facilities and learning facilities available. These facilities include multiple practice bunkers, pitching greens, putting greens, and spacious driving ranges, with instruction programs available for beginners to advanced players from both PGA and LPGA members. Monticellos 5th Hole was ranked as one of the 18 Most Spectacular Holes in the Carolinas by an independent panel of judges for the Center for Carolina Living.

The Hooters Tournament is an annual event at the Monticello Golf Course. This course was ranked 8th Best New Affordable Golf Course in the Nation by Golf Digest.

And for The Masters Tournament fans, Augusta, GA, home of The Masters, is only a short drive from the Village.
